Test Lab, Inc. (Test Lab) is a geotechnical and materials engineering, testing and inspection firm founded in 1972. We are
proudly in our 50th year of business providing Geotechnical Engineering and Materials Testing services to the West
Central Florida area. Our Geotechnical Engineering services can be supplied anywhere in Florida and our Materials
Testing services are supported over the 7 county Central Florida area. Our service lines include Geotechnical
Engineering, Contractor Quality Control services, Construction Materials Engineering and Testing, CEI DBE Support,
Sinkhole and Forensic Services and Facilities Engineering. To provide these services, Test Lab owns and operates our
own drill rigs and support equipment and two full-service laboratory locations, Tampa and Brooksville, which are certified
by the Construction Materials Engineering Council (CMEC) and FDOT approved. We also provide GPR (ground
penetrating radar), Vibration Monitoring, Pile Inspection and Forensic Investigations. Test Lab employs over 38
professional, technical and support personnel to provide efficient, cost effective engineering services to our clients
We maintain laboratory facilities at our corporate office in Tampa and at our laboratory facility in Brooksville, Florida. Our
materials laboratories are one of only a few in the District that can actually provide advanced geotechnical laboratory
testing in house, (triaxial, permeability, consolidation, direct shear) as well as the capability to provide FDOT concrete mix
design verifications. We operate our own drill rigs and perform our drilling and geophysical work in house.
Since its inception in 1972, Test Lab, Inc. has provided practical engineering services on over 13,000 projects for
industrial clients, architects, engineers, developers and governmental agencies. Our engineers have worked on FDOT
projects in every District and we are currently serving on three different D1 / D7 Materials and Geotechnical Districtwide
contracts as well as a Turnpike Districtwide contract. Test Lab is qualified for FDOT work types 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4.1, 9.5,
10.1 and 10.3. Test Lab is certified as a Disadvantaged Woman Business Enterprise (DWBE) by the State of Florida, the
Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), MWBE by the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, Hillsborough County
Aviation Authority (HCAA) and the Tampa Port Authority. Our laboratories are inspected annually by the Construction
Materials Engineering Council (CMEC) and have been accredited by that organization in accordance with AASHTO R18.
Test Lab, Inc. is also the oldest Geotechnical Engineering / Materials Testing firm still under the same name and
management on the West Coast of Florida.
In addition to the serving on three FDOT Districtwide contracts and now having a Prime contract of our own, Test Lab is
currently serving on the Hillsborough County Misc. Geotechnical and Materials Testing contract and is serving the City of
Tampa on an A/E Work Order contract for Geotechnical and Materials Testing services as needed. Most recently, Test
Lab has provided Geotechnical Engineering services on over 30 FDOT projects in the past 2 years including the $72M I
75 Design Build widening project from SR 52 to SR 54 and upcoming US 98/301 D/B projects and others with Districts 1,
5 and Turnpike. We are also providing Contractor Quality Control services on over a dozen ongoing FDOT projects. Test
Lab has been nearly continuously under contract with the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County for the last 40 years.
Test Lab has provided geotechnical engineering and/or materials testing/QC services on literally thousands of commercial
projects. Some of the most recent are the St. Josephs Womens Hospital Bed Tower (Barton Malow), St. Josephs Heart
Center (Barton Malow), NW Regional Water Transfer facility for Hillsborough County with Garny/Smith Wharton, The
CONRAQ-APM project at TIA for Austin Commercial, the MTAC Terminal Expansion at TIA for Skanska, USF Research
Foundation Bldg.(Skanska), TIA Check Baggage (Hensel Phelps ongoing). And currently starting Geotechnical and
Materials Testing services on the Howard F Curren AWTP project with Garney Construction Co. and the CAE US
Headquarters campus adjacent to TIA with Barr and Barr Construction.
